Doris is our beloved 2012 Southerly 47.
She is a solid blue-water matriarch, kind in heavy weather, nimble enough to lift her keel and sit on a beach and very forgiving of the two old bimblers who love her.
We are working to reduce our carbon footprint and tread gently on the oceans we love.
With a solar powered electric propulsion system and a little help from mechanical regeneration (when we sail the propeller spins and recharges the battery), we intend to be as self-sufficient as possible and pursue our sailing dreams without it 'costing the earth' for our children.
Sally is a semi-retired Professor of Obstetrics who works on placentas whilst dreaming of the sea and Dave is a fully retired engineer who works (hard) on Doris.
We have so many friends who have asked about bimbling plans that we decided the only thing for it was to Blog.
Please bear with us, we're new to this (old dogs spring to mind....). We are not sponsored by anyone and have no plans to try to make money from it (just as well I hear you cry). If we mention any businesses it is because we are genuinely impressed by them.

Don't forget to add bimblingaboutondoris@gmail.com to 'safe senders' - email firewalls seem very astute and will shove the emails in your 'junk folder' otherwise. I'm trying not to take it as a literary critique!
